Very quick question. 1.8 TSI gen 118kw. Outside temp. 30"C , air intake temp 50"C after driving for some time. Is this normal? I understand there is obviously some heat transfer between TSI engines that naturally run hot and intake pipes but still. Either the engine is running hotter than it should or, I'm thinking about putting a heat blanket around the intake pipe.

Where is the air intake temperature sensor?

If it's after the intercooler, a heat blanket shouldn't do a great deal. It's just a sign your intercooler isn't doing a good job.

From what I understand, 1.8 TSI has an air temp sensor after the cold intake box (filter) and before the turbocharger. These engines are practically the same as 2.0 TSI's.
