HI all , I'm new to the forum . I have a wee 1.2 Ibiza which is about to go through an MOT. I have just done a new spring, tyre and headlight bulb but now I need to tackle the airbag light.

The airbag light on the dashboard has come on but when I run the VAG diagnostic the fault code I get is 01044 which is 'Control Module Incorrectly Coded' . Strange because I expected it to be the airbag code . I have tried to clear the fault but it stays on , I guess that means the fault is still present.

Any help would be welcome . Thanks

NO new module or new anything really , just a spring. I scanned with a Hand held reader with vag305 and a Maxidas (whatever that is ) both read the same code .

OK , so I had another go with the VCDS and this time I saw the magic button that says 'clear code'. I pressed this and guess what... It cleared the code. I love tech again (not). I'd like to thank R3K1355 for pointing me in the right direction and thanks to Ross Tech for providing some amazing software which I will be recommending to my local garage (nay sayers who sucked through their teeth while saying things like £1200 mate) and everybody else who lives in the world of VAG.

Thanks again R3k335
