I would get a second opinion if it was me. I am sure they could be right but thats alot to shell out for.

Ye i got it, £3450. Just need to sort the airbag and got some decent wheels.

took it to seat, they said it was the main control unit, £300 to replace

will look for somethere to get it done cheaper

I wouldn't trust what some dealers tell you. Some of them lie or just invent work that doesn't need doing.
But in any case, why did someone get rid of this car with a warning light still on? Seems to me that they wanted to sell it pretty quickly, and who knows what other problems it has? If it was me I wouldn't buy it, but I see you already did.

it was local to me, and i did go and see it and drove it, drove perfect.
he had already put it on ebay then the airbag light came on
