Hi there,
I bought my LCR 225 from a local car dealer last week and before I picked it up they said they would sort a few jobs out for me. One of the probs from the test drive was that the airbag warning light was on the dash. They said the would look at it for me and when I came to pick the car up the light had gone out and all was fine.
Anyway, within a couple of days the airbag light was back on and when I called the garage to say that I wanted them to have another look at it they said, "Sorry mate but the basic warranty we provide only covers you for gearbox and engine."
I said that the airbag problem existed on the test drive and that they promised to sort it. Within a couple of days of driving it away the problem returned suggesting that they had not actually cured the problem in the first place.
The garage bloke then said, "We plugged the car into our computer and reset the warning light and so its fixed, if its come on again then it obviously something new and you're not covered for it - These cars are buggers for airbag warning lights coming on!"
I told him that it was clearly the same fault and merely resetting an error code on the ECU wasn't the correct way to fix the problem and that I would be down to discuss the matter shortly. He said I'd be wasting my time as I wasn't covered for it fixing.
I've a good mind to speak to trading standards about the matter but does anyone else have any opinions on what I should do?
