I'm going to try mine tonight, I'm on a 54 plate, so fingers crossed it churps not beeps!

mines a 52 plate and it chirps... i have done loads of golfs/leons and they have all chirped so far.

Yeah the alarm siren is under the wipers on them all, some get a beep some get a chirp swap it for a 12v siren from maplins and it will be different again.

put a nice request in the vag-com section for help in doing this, or get vag-com yourself or even ask a garage local if they can do it.
please be mindful that the guide mentioned in another post does state this is illegal in the uk.

IIRC earlier cars didn't have a separate alarm siren, but sound the horn when the alarm is activated, so it's not software that's causing your problem, it's missing hardware.

done mine now sounds like an air raid siren!!!!!

Not quite right,

Mine used to beep the horn but now chirps All the Mk 1 pre face lifts have horns as alarms (sepersate from the main horn) which is what the car uses when the locking sound is activated, the face lift cars have sirens hence the chirp, i just changed my horn for a siren. simples

No idea my moss (spits) and my ai606 did it too by default
