Hi,

My Leon has developed a new trick as the alarm seems to go off randomly anytime and place.

The car locks and unlocks (remotely) as normal but the alarm goes off at any stage of the day, my neighbours love me!

Any suggestions?

thanks

I had the same mate. Going into the garage next week to have door locking unit replaced! Also check if once the car is locked any of the doors still open! This was what was happening to mine!! Wasn't locking doors correctly!

Not sure how much it's costing me as still under warranty!

Thankfully all the locks are activating, having to use the key to get around it at the moment.

Seat alarm problems

Hi Guys,

I'm having the same problem.

The alarm keeps going off at random points. Very painful at night!!

I've had an auto electrician look at the problem. at a cost of £40 plus another £30 to hook it up to a diagnostic software from his mate working for a VAG dealer. 3 fault codes came out:

The front drivers door
The interior light - I'm aware of this problem
The boot locking mechanism.

A few points to note.

The interior light is not working correctly. Apparently its all connected to the alarm somehow?

The sell locking which happens approximately 30secs to 1min after unlocking the car and not entering. My car self locked with the door open which points toward a problem with the door.

At one point to note allowing the car to self lock was the solution and meant the alarm would not go off. That lasted about a few hours and then back to square one.

There also seems to be a mention of Seats having problems with the control modules. I was told this by the AA who i rang and asked to have a look at the problem. At the moment I have disabled the alarm thanks to the AA dude. By removing Phuse 17. The lights still flash but the alarm is silent! Bliss! :)

Under the advice of the auto electrician and VAG certified guy that hooked it up to the diagnostic the best option is to replace the door locking mechanism and the interior light and also check the boot mechanism for water?

Interior lights going to cost me £27
Car door locking mechanism is going to cost me £94! ouch!
Fitting £50.

Does anyone have any idea if the above information sounds ok?

Does anyone know how to remove the front door card on a seat leon mk2 2006?? I tried to isolate the problem to the front door by wanting to disconect it from the picture and see if the alarm problem still happens?? I've removed screw behind the door handles and at the bottom of the door. Two screws behind the door speakers? Its just no budging??

Thanks for you helps and support in advance?

It would be good to know how you guys fixed the same problems?

regards
Jin

The first thing to do is lock the car but disable the interior monitoring sensors. "press lock button twice" if this stops it going off you can either get the sensors replaced or just unplug them yourself.

I was under the impression that pressing the alarm fob twice in succession just initiated the deadlocks on the doors? rather than stop the alarm from arming?

I think pressing twice actually undoes the dead locks and disables the volumetric sensor.

I've tried to press the key fob twice when locking the vehicle and it seems the alarm still goes off? So its not the internal sensors playing up its more likely to do with the door etc?

cheers

I have had this problem also.

Over the last 2 weeks the alarm has been going off constantly, like you my neighbours love me !

Finally gave in and took my car to the garage on Saturday (They had recommended I removed fuse 17 under bonnet which has solved the siren noise), after a diagnostics test they have said it's my passenger door not locking. Which logically explains that door not locking with the others.

All in it is going to cost me £226 !!!!!!!!

This is definitely correct Steve. I remember it took me a while to change my habits when I changed from an old Vectra (which needed two clicks to enable deadlocks) to a Golf (which is the same setup as the Leon).
I have to say, the VAG method makes more sense - the most secure setting should be the default IMHO.

Same here, i came from an Astra to a Seat and it took me a while to get used to.

Hello,

There has been some progress in just one day. What a difference a day makes ;-) . The dash board now reflects the fact that a door is open even when they're physically shut. It didnt do this before but makes me feel happier the front right door is the problem. It get fixed Tuesday so fingers crossed it nails the problem if the part arrives. £94 + vat + labour :-(

I can't lock using the key fob anymore. As it thinks one of the doors is open! I use the interior lock to lock all the other doors and use the key itself. Oh joy

Changed the broken interior light today. Works fine

^^^the door lock seems to be a common fault then. my drive door is exactly as above, so need a new lock. and while the mechanic had the computer hooked up he announced there are two heater plugs out aswell. the electronics arent the leons strong point!

On a Leon of this age radom alarm issues tend to be a electrical fault in the door CU, rather than the lock itself. You can see this by looking at last activation sources in measured value blocks. Its usually the drivers one but depending on software levels you sometimes have to do the passangers side too (only the fronts). If you fit a new one to one side with higher S/W level (008+, as aposed to 006) you end up with all sorts of strange faults.

Well my car went into the garage yesterday at 11a.m and they fitted a new lock I waited for 2hours just for them to tell me that it had jammed shut and they needed it longer as it might be that they had been supplied with the wrong lock!!!!!!!

Got a phone call at 5p.m saying that the window mechanism was also broken and would cost me an extra £180 on top of the £229 they had already quoted ! It was working fine the night b4........ Grrr. [:@]

Stuck with a crappy Aygo till Tuesday now :(

They likely broke the window regulator removing the auxcillery carrier, can be a bit of a pain if you dont know what ur doing. Has the lock stopped the alram going off????

I have no idea, they didn't say.
When I went to get courtesy car poor old Leo was in pieces and doors held together with a cable !

Don't know if I am gonna manage to get them to pay for window as it was them who broke it.
Don't see why I should pay for their mistake.
