Hi I have a 2001 1.8T Alhambra (MkII) - which has run without fault. A week or so ago I took it out and parked with no problem but when I returned and started driving it was down on power and missfiring.

I got it home and used my old VAGCOM lead with VCDS lite and found 3 errors. the first was an EGR valve intermittant error, the seconf a 16685 Cylinder 1 misfire and 16684 multiple cylinder misfire. I cleared all but the misfire is still there - at idle and through the range and the second 2 errors came back.

The engine has individual coils on each spark plug - the motor factors show an amplifier for my chassis number but I could not find this in the engine bay (I looked on the air filter housing - does anyone know where it should be?).

Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks - this is useful. As it is multiple cylinders misfiring from the error and given that is has just started I would assume that the leads coils and plugs are ok (it would be strange for 2 cylinders to go down at exactly the same time).

The exhaust smells very rich (ie I'm assuming the charge is not igniting). Hence my thoughts that it could be the amplifier which would control all of the sparks.

Would anyone know where it is located on the Alhambra?

Cool, I'm not clued up on the petrols at all myself but have some idea of where the info is which can be handy for other lol
