I have been cleaning new pride and joy all morning, but one thing is really getting to me. My alloy wheels..........whoever owned the car before me obviously didn't look after the wheels and they are a right state, there aren't many scuffs on the surface but, and its a big but....dirt and brake pad powder etc have baked onto the alloys and have ruined them. To the point that I just can't clean them up no matter what i try. :(:(:(:( [:@]
I need to get the refurbed, can anyone tell me how much a stealer will change for this??? Or if there are any alloy wheel refurbing places near Southend, Essex????

As soon as the wheels are looking good them i'll be really happy with my new ride........

Not sure how bad they are mate but if you saying that you cant clean them (have you tried using tar and glue remover which is similar to thinners) then just look online for a repair service, but i watched a mobile repaired sorting out a scratch on the wheel on my sisters beemer and it was such a simple process and would have no probs having a go myself and now thinking about changing the colour of the wheel centres on mine. If i was you i would use a good quality cleaner and then rub the wheels down and then pick a colour you fancy and have a decent sprayer paint them for you. Preping them yourself will save loads of money and is just time consuming (not hard)

i had similar problem with my wheels.. i used autoglym engine and machine cleaner (soak for a few seconds then wash off with a little water and a brillo pad + elbow grease)

shouldve seen the difference! showed a few folk on here it was phenomenal

(before anyone asks no the brillo pad didnt scratch them)

Cheers mate, i'll give it a try before I spend loads of money refurbing them.
I have found a place in Canvey ( JP Polishing ) that refurbish alloy wheels, 200pounds for a set of 4 18inch alloys. So if all else fails i'll have to go there. But cheers for the advice.

Dumb question, but how long did it take them to refurb them!!
Only ask because I Don't have a spare set to put on my car so would have to leave the car and wheels with them...........
What finish did you go for?? I was thinking just the standard colour to keep the car looking smart and standard....

I went for gloss black - trouble is he only does a limited choice of colors

He turned a set of 4 within a week but not everything is done in house I think

even tho its secure site its not a place where I would leave my car tbh, best thing is to have a word with him and sort something out.
