Hi,

While im pretty good on mechanicals, i self confess know next to sod all when it comes to stereos. Had my mk1 LC 4 years and the aura unit and cd changer have always done me proud.

Im living in the US at the moment, and with today exchange rate for example i can get an alpine ida-x200 for around £100.

Is there any reasons anyone knows off why a US bought unit would not work in the UK?
Im pretty sure there is no way i can install a unit and keep the aura changer???
Im using a 2nd general ipod touch, will the apline unit support it?
I have a parrot ck kit, will the new headunit match to this ok?

Thanks

R

I bought a "grey" alpine ida x-100 off fleabay a little while back. The stereo will work fine in the uk, but the bandwidth spacing on radio stations is different for us here. While we are spaced at .1 for fm, so 97.1, 97.2 etc, the US are spaced at .2, on the odds, so 97.1, 97.3 etc.... so some stations may not be receivable. It's similar for mw, our spacing being 9MHz, and the US being 10, so same as above.

The other thing to consider is warranty. If you buy it in the us, the warranty would not be honoured in the uk. Touch wood, i've had no problems, but you never know.

As far as I know, you cannot keep the Aura changer with an aftermarket setup.

And the alpine website should be able to answer the rest!!!

Hope this helps.

Ive done some researching on this and basically unless the exchange rate really goes well, it is not worth buying here with the aforementionned problems for what is, today at least, £30 difference in price.

However i have found no answer as to whether my existing parrot kit will work with an aftermarket unit (as i know they have their bluetooth modules). Also no clear definitive answer on whether a 2nd gen itouch will work and which cable would be required.

Anymore help would be greatly appreciated

if you already have a parrot itll mute your radio as normal when you purchase aftermarket.the parrot solutions alpine do are completely different to the on you have, its one or the other (or an alpine unit with parrot built in)

some units work with using the standard usb docking cable,if not its the kce 422i required and works with your ipod,3rd generation is where a few issues lie
