guys im thinking about getting a stage 1 on my 1.8t fr 150bhp engine code BJX

now i have a green cone filter rated up to 205bhp, dump valve with lowest strength spring, i have the next one up though, cat back piper exhaust with resonator no back box.

the question is which stage 1, do i go revo for the sps control module? or amd or apr, both dont include a module to change the map do they? i would be looking at around 200bhp and better mpg, is that possible with a stage 1 lol

thoughts and comments welcomed guys, i will be getting this done at gti international this year if i do decide. also cheaper on the day too :)

would just go with a custom map, i had a stage 2 generic, turbo back, huge filter, forge dv, uprated silicone tip, was pretty good but never popped or anything no matter how hard i tried, smelt quite lean as well, took it to big fish tuning to get a custom map, found my generic one to be very lean, well in the 13s, i had added a ported exhaust manifold and supersize tip at this time, got 250 bhp with 409nm, was 70nm over my generic, now there is no flat spots, faster spooling and spins up in 3rd so bottom line id just go for a custom at a reputable tuner

only looking for a stage 1 man from amd/apr/revo and im not upgrading the tip or anything like that

don't need to upgrade the tip for a custom map, altho which ever map you get ur standard one will probs collapse and choke the turbo anyway, just don't see the point in paying 350 quid for a map which is just a file rather than a 200 - 250 map set up on a rolling road with all the data logging done, making sure the car is 100 %, every cars different, some have leaks others have weak actuators, easier to diagnose when its set up properly, but each to there own, just my 2 cents

I've driven an APR stage 1 map, it was very smooth and drove well. Just to add, APR maps are self learning whilst retaining all engine safeguards. They are not totally generic as such, bear in mind weeks of development are put into these maps by teams of developers who calibrate various models on rolling road as part of the development. Whilst it's not quite the same as having a base map tweaked on your car on a RR, they can still be a good product backed up with good support. For the record I've had my APR stage 2 on about 6 years now, been on numerous RR days against all sorts of 'custom' maps, and it's always fared well and never caused me any running problems.

Standard Spring should be ok for Stage 1, I run an APR R1 DV but there's not much in it performance wise. APR are fairly low boost maps, so are fairly easy going on the turbo, my stage 2 peaks around 20psi and tails off to 18psi, so stage 1 should be a little lower I would have thought. Stage 1 can pretty much be put on standard cars without problem. Green cone should be fine, I run a green panel filter with pd160 intake at stage 2 with no problems.

thanx man, so i wont need a forge tip then for the stage 1?
