make sure the remote wire is connected properly on the amp and that it has been connected to the right wire on the iso cable. im going 2 presume you have a largish 40a fuse for example in a holder near the battery. check that its fine. my amp want working because of that fuse. it hadnt broken in the middle, but when held upto light you could see it wasnt straight and therefore wasnt connected at one of the metal ends.

I was thinking if it were the remote wire, then when I turned the amp on nothing would happen. As to my knowledge, the remote wire tells the amplifier when the head unit is turned on. But when I turn my head unit on, the red light comes on for about 5 seconds then goes off.

Yeah, the remote wire works like a 12v switch. Basically when you switch your headunit on, it sends 12v down the remote wire, which the switches on the amp (via a transistor and an op-amp). When you switch off the headunit, the 12v supply stops, and the amp is switched off.

What you should try is just connect your remote wire to the live wire connection of your amp. Do this with the headunit switched off, and see if anything improves
