AMPs or no amps

I have got a new headunit, this one for anyone who wants to know:

and I have got some new infinity components:

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/3830.html

Now Im gonna get these installed and want to add a sub. Thing is im not sure if running everything off the headunit will leave me satisfied or if I should run everything off amps. I dont really want to load my car up with too much equipment either, the car is only a 1.4!

Basically my requirements are a good sounding system that is balanced. I dont want overpowering bass or want my music really loud. Just good quality. However I dont want to run everything off the headunit only to be disapointed and paying someone twice to then run some new cables for the amps.

Has anyone here got any experiences between the differences of running the speakers off the headunit vs the amps?

Thank you for reading :D

i do ... well the crossover that comes with the comps draws some power and the rated 70watts per channel is max i would say the max rms power of the HU will be about 40.... if i was you i would amp them with a 4 channel amp (i have one for sale) that can run the comps and a sub from it (comps front channel and sub from rear channels) keeps the weight down to...

Thing is Im gonna have some comps in the rear of my car also, so I would need a 6 channel amp or I get a 4 channel amp and a active sub.

If you want a bit of good advice....totally forget the comps in the rear save your money and sound deaden the front comps and put a decent sub in.....at the end of the day its about how you want it to sound, you will never get it perfect for everyone in the car so as YOU are spending the money.......make sure its A1*** for you !

Why don't you go for a sub with built in amp??

Your HU should be able to drive the rest of the speakers with no bother. Set the filters to get rid of all bass from the normal speakers (120Hz and below) and then just leave the amp in the sub to get on with all the big bass signals to the larger speakers in the sub.
I bought one of these:

for my Fiesta and it was ample if you don't want to go for 'over the top' chav bass. Compact too (about a foot square!)

Ive come to a decision now. I will get the speakers wired up to the headunit first and then see how that goes. Then if I want more I will get a amp to run them off when I get a sub installed.

What amp have you got for sale richie?
