Hello,

I'm new to these forums, first thanks to all the posts out there, I've spent quite some time reading through them which led me to buy my first Seat, a Leon FR CR 2010.

Just been playing around with the USB/Audio jack as there is no bluetooth and am a bit disappointed. I'm using a Nexus 4 (Android) phone and an app(google music) to play music through, if I plug in using the audio jack I can play music but of course can't control the songs. Using the USB slot I managed to pick up my phone one time but couldn't get it to do it again, the one time it worked it allowed me to browse files but not use the app to play music.

So my questions are:

1) Anybody else out there trying to play music through an Android device? Is my best bet to buy a bluetooth kit? Anyway to use the USB slot.

2) If I plug my phone into both USB and Audio jack the USB overrides the jack even though it just comes up with a failed message so this means I can't even charge my phone off the USB whilst playing through the audio jack, any way to override this?

I've had a quick browse on the forums already but couldn't find anything similar.

Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

The USB is for a USB storage device or for use with a lead made for iPod (a combined USB and jack with some chip in it).

The USB will never just charge your phone,
I don't believe there's a way around that.

I would have thought that plugging the USB in you are then able to select your phone to act as a USB storage device. If you can then you should be able to use it to play music.

USB will probably only put out the standard 0.5amp, any decent smartphone needs 1amp newer ones 2amp.

So usb charging will take forever.

Thanks for the replies, guessing I'll be using the standard 12v for charging.

Don't have access to the exact music files as its through a streaming service, kind of like Spotify which I think most people know. Starting to think bluetooth kit will be the way to go.

Pretty sure this doesn't have bluetooth, no bluetooth options on the radio and can't find the car when I search for it on my phone.

Have a look under the drivers seat for the bluetooth module, that's where mine is located.

No phone button on the left side of radio :-(

@Steve could you explain a bit more what I'm looking for? Maybe a pic or something would be really appreciated.

Found some cables under the drivers side chair but thats about all, not sure whether they are bluetooth linked? All the chair controls are mechanical so can't think what else they might be for?

I have a facelift FR.
I was told it has bluetooth and I've never been able to locate anything to do with bluetooth on the MFD or on the stereo.

So it has all the controls... but no bluetooth.

Anyway I'm a fellow android user, I was a Nexus 4 user until a few months back also.
To be honest the only way I've managed to use mine was to buy the official HTC One cradle and mount it on the dash.

Google Music can be controlled through swiping (which I didn't realise until recently)
I store music offline, but it can only really be controlled via the interface.

Swiping left will go forward a track, swiping right will go back a track.

Sorry I've not got any good news other than that but I've gotten used to it now.
Was looking for a good android head unit but the ones I found use android 2.6... and thats pretty old software now!

Thanks CJR, glad I'm not the only one confused about bluetooth!

Thanks for swipe suggestion, didn't know it does that so might have a look for a mount. I've been using pocket skip allowing me to double click the volume button to skip a track but I reckon swiping would be easier.
