Ok since I had my car mapped last year everytime im at full boost high in the rev range in 3rd or 4th gear for a decent period of time my car jumps in to limp mode 7 psi boost and reduced power.

I fitted an n75j after my rebuild this hasn't cured the problem. All my vac hoses are brand new and I have also fitted new intercooler and piping. So I can confirm there's no boost leaks.

Here is what Ross-tech state:

17964/P1556 - Charge Pressure Control: Negative Deviation

Possible Symptoms

Reduced power output Limp mode

Possible Causes

Boost Pressure too Low Hoses/Pipes incorrect connected, disconnected or leaking Charger Pressure Control defective VNT (variable nozzle turbo): nozzles stuck Solenoid Valve for Boost Pressure Control (N75) defective

Possible Solutions

Check Hoses/Pipes to/between Components Check Solenoid Valve for Boost Pressure Control (N75) Check / Clean / Replace Charge Pressure Control Check / Clean mechanism for variable nozzles

Can anyone help? Could this be the map?

Double and triple check all hoses and connections

And test the waste gate... A sticky wastegate could cause an under boost situation if it gets stuck open. Maybe getting hot and jamming up? Hence only when giving it good amounts of prolonged load.

Measure where the bolts are on the actuator!!!!!!!! Then take the actuator off the flap and check the flap is free to move and can test the actuator with hand vacuum pump.. Should be a smooth movement with no jerky or sticky movement. Could be sticking open so it won't return closed to hold the boost higher up the rev range after opening to cap the spike on spool

Could this all be linked to.maf sensor. Mines eaten it self today :-(. Traction control light and Mel on showing maf fault code.

Ok so the other day my car ate my MAF lol. 16824 error code. car jumping into limp mode etc.

Unfortunatly 2 weeks out of date to claim under warrenty [:@]

Replaced the MAF with a new Bosche one and now everythig runs well. the car is no longer hunting for revs when on idle and my other code hasnt reappeared. :)

Cheers for the suggestion guys. I think im still going to replace the vacume tubing for the N75 just incase and do the wastegate check.

Still getting this 17964 error code in 3rd and 4th gear when high in the rev range. Checked everything out. Eg boost pipes and waste gate check all ok.

Anyone any idea why this could be appearing? To me charge pressure to low seams to say the car is struggling to get enough air?

It's worth mentioning my rev limit has been extended to 7200 by jab a when mapping as the car just loves pulling the whole way round. It's normally about 6500-6800 this error happens

Sounds like a mapping error. If its negative deviation that's under boosting. Could be asking too much and limping when it can supply it.

Wouldn't let me edit, so reposted.

Cheers for the reply tucker. What would you advise about fixing it. Do u think I should get in touch with jabba? The map was done exactly 1 year ago today.

Another question does any one have a spare aa ibiza Cupra ecu? I was thinking about getting another map done by bill at badger 5 or by a boy rich at vipertuning who is very popular on the rs forum

Has it always done it since the map? If it has then speak to the mapper, and tell them its coming up with that code when you get to those revs, and that you've already spent money trying to fix it, you've had it look at and suspect it could be the map.

Yeah it's always done it since the map. It did it on my way home from getting the map. I thought nothing off it at the time. Think I will call jabba later this week and ask the question.

jabba map and it dropped into limp since you drove it away from their remap and you did'nt go back to them?

limp from boost deviation is fixable from mapping of course (should be anyhow), but the cause of the boost not meeting expected is worthy of investigating..

leaks, tired turbo, asking for too much via map, all potential suspects

call to jabba required to check with them first tho fella

Why did you not go straight back? And say hey my car is in limp mode... Didn't do this before you touched it, please fix it or refund me!

Cheers for your thoughts bill.

Reason I didn't go back on the day was the fault happened wen I was almost home which is best part of 600 miles away from jabba.

Can u think of any other tests to carry out to rule out possible problems. Info. New n75j is fitted, turbo was brand new when the car was mapped, it's had multiple new mafs

J valve is not something I would fit... It causes spikes to boost control if added post mapping... if not dealt with correctly in the map boost controls. Std n75 works fine.. and should be used.

A phone call to Jabba is what you need to make.. and see what they suggest. Perhaps they have an agent in Scotland who can assist

logging with vcds will perhaps aid diagnosis.. logging block 115 for request vs actual boost for example, so show the overshoot/undershoot/resultant limp
