stoke-on-trent
I was on my way to the nurburgring yesterday and the car developed a missfire and the engine light flashed. so I pulled over and turned the car off and restarted and it worked fine again for another 250 miles then the same fault happened again and I restarted and again all was well. I know missfires are usually coil packs but I have never known them to work again after an engine restart has anyOne else had this fault or know what's causing it please help. Engine code is auq

Take it you can't code read the car at the mo? I'd say coil packs too! Take off the battery leads for 30 mins. Reset the ecu. It may sort it !
Otherwise I'm afraid it needs to be plugged in mate!

When a coil dies it tends to be under hard use, the EML will flash and you will feel it misfire
However when going softly they appear to work again, but it'll be dying slowly
Get a fault reader and you should have 2 codes, a multiple misfire code and an individual cylinder code

Yeah agreed, i had one fail after going stage one, an occasional misfire at first and then went completely. Now i've got two spare ones in my back seat pocket just in case, lol. :)
