my 02 20vt Leon has a leak on the drivers side. To find out where the water is coming in I went to one of them cheep car was at the petrol station. when I was going through it I was expecting the water to come in from the door and run down into the footwell but the water is leaking in from the front of the footwall near the Bonnet pull It is coming in from under the plastic panel between the accelerator pedal and the bonnet pull, ( where you would have a foot rest on Expensive cars) I know the pollen filter is on the passenger side so it cant be that can it? I think it might be coming in from under the bonnet maybe next to where the window wiper is held on as there is a gap there which I do not know what it is for.

Any idea's any one.

I wish I could help you but I cannot in this instance. I share your annoyance at the water leaks though, I currently have the N/S door leaking because the sealant inside has perished letting water build up inbetween the door and the skirt. When it has been raining, I have to open the passenger door to let the water out before it overflows onto my mat...&$£ing thing!

Nowhere near, i.e. Norway.
Let me get this straight, you drove through a washer so you could get more water into the car? I wouldn't do that.

The "normal" water-in-the-footwell-issue is from a bad seal in the door. As you're kinda on to.

A gap? A pic of the gap?

check under the scuttle panel for muck and leaves, they block the drainage holes. water should drain around the wheel arch. if it cant it will rise up and could enter via the bonnet release grommit or similar.

also try searching for "hole in bulkhead"

Where the electrics enter the car from the engine bay, the seal is the same crap one used on the doors.

Wipers off, scuttle off, renew the seal for the plastic electric cover.

And as above check for a hole :)

perhaps mines perished then , as it builds up in back passenger side , i too have to open doors b4 setting off , as it will enter the car otherwise

Sounds exactly the same. Apparently it's easily fixed, you just need to rip the door trim off and re-seal. I was advised, by a Stealer of course, to by their own special VAG glue type stuff but I believe other sealants will be just as good.

I also get the water traped between the door and the car sideskirt but this dose not enter the car( YET) i think mine might be what LEE 69 said about the electrics entering the car from the engin. I think i will give that a go at soon as i am getting through kitchen roll like you would not belive!! and my nice leon mats are F ed up. It is also always raining so i can not even have a good look at it.

Is this common to all LEONs... or it seems like a UK Leon thing ?

Ive havent seen any other forums or LEONS with so much of this happening ...

Exactly right, I water pouring into the car from the plastic cover. I also had water getting in through the bulkhead seam but I think I have it all fixed now.

Also true that it rains alot there too.... so UK cars may spot this fault earlier in life

I have got the same problem with leakage in the front passenger foot well.My Leon is an 01 plate and I know this is quite common. Is it worth taking it to a dealership and getting it sorted or risk doing it yourself? Is very annoying, especially this time of year!

Any help much appreciated.

I always this to do this kind of stuff you self as most car delers dont really know much and just take a guess at what they are doing, also i find they allways brake outher stuff and dont tell you. I will give it a go and if i can not do it then start looking at taking it into a delership
