swap coil 1 with another one, if it comes back on the cylinder you just changed it too you know its the coil, still coming back on cylinder 1 would mean new spark plug

i would try that before replacing all 4 plugs - will pinpoint the missfire problem

it does say intermittent tho, so you might have to drive it for a bit for it to happen again

Yeah there is no point me doing anything now until the light comes back on

Have you tried changing the 1st coil pack then? How else are you going to know it's a coil pack for sure without trying?! You don't need to change all 4 just borrow one and change the one where the misfire is.

I havent done anything yet because i havent had time plus its dark when i get in but i am just going to have to wait for the light to come back on before i try anything now

****ed coils/plugs and possibly boost leak/stuffed lambda to me. Trial and error diy stuff, no need to drive 150miles for imo.

It wont be a boost leak as i have had everything checked SO many times and the lambda sensor is fine too as we did a log on that

Im not driving to Jabba, they have been helping me over the phone ;)

The other thing is, im not a mechanic and wont pretend to be! I would rather put my car in someones hands that knows what they are doing, too many times i have trusted someone and its gone wrong and to find someone with a real knowledge of these cars is hard to find in my area

How are you sure you havent got a boost leak?

Loads of places that most people dont check, brake servo pipe, PCV, etc...

Log 118 to see if you've got a leak.

I have had it checked a lot of times and have had all the little vacuum hoses replaced but i will look into that!

I have never heard that you can actually log the car to see if there is a boost leak! That is great news! How is best to do that log?

Now i just need to get my little VAG COM guru

118 is request vs actual boost, so if its a boost leak your actual boost will be down from your requested

log from 2000rpm to 6000rpm

As i've said, log 118,its WG duty dave, not actual v requested, thats 115. If you see 95% plus all the time, boost leak time.

Post up the results as well.

Ok you may be good with your right foot but im not going that far up there! I havent driven that hard for months

Surely 2000RPM to 4500RPM will show something if its there?

Lol.

WG duty will show it better tho, sometimes a leak is small enough to be taken up with jamming the WG shut only a little.

And, drive your car hard to log it, you really need to.

I suppose so, its just i dont want to have the bills that will probably appear when it breaks down
