i used them a few years ago on a real trick 16v golf i had and they were bloody superb to be honest whenthey did the engine wrok took them extra 5 or 6 hrs but did not charge me so there ok in my eyes

i know they went through a few different hands in the last several years and think it may even have closed for awhile, so anything more recent

i know they were good on older golfs etc. but noticed they are too a custom code supplier, so they any good on 1.8Ts?

no idea on that one but tim stiles has always been a good name. personally using a guy in hampshire called ray west to do al my work been recommended through some friends who race in national series and say he is quality. may also be worth alook

Went there back in the summer on a RR day. TSR got a very bad rep a few years ago when it was sold by Tim to a real twat and the staff where agrogent assholes. The new TSR was bought out by the people who owned the car garage new door and seem like nice people. The RR is OK but the fan is way to small. If your just looking for a remap they should be just as good as anyone else. Their prices for big brake kits and stuff are very good but cannot comment on workmanship etc as i have never had any done but the place looks ten times better then it used to and lots of new eqipment.

I know this is old. But I ordered an exhaust manifold on January 4th. Was told they was struggling to get the cast collectors mid March.
I said its fine but please keep me updated.. never heard a thing unless I messaged them then called and called. All I get was short emails .
As I now want to get the head work done I asked if I could borrow one of the flanges they would use to make the exhaust. All.i got back was an email saying
We don't have any in stock.
So by the 23rd July I had enough. They offered a refund. It's now 25th August and still waiting.
7 months waiting for the manifold.... now over a month waiting for refund. They are just taking the p155 now.
I feel sorry for the woman who answers the phone as she must get some really annoyed customers calling up. The main person I get told will call me... but I get a short email.
I getting the feeling I may have to think about getting legal advice.
Also another company was able to get cast collector and make me a manifold with in 3 weeks.
Sorry for the rant but annoyed with cr4p customer service .

It does sound like the stereotypical assholes in the car industry. I would say they have been fobbing you off & as frustrating as this will be, I would start putting pressure on for your refund or threaten with ombudsman or independent legal aid.
I think if the customer service is this ropey, having any work done with them would more than likely be of similar quality.
I hate this kind of situation, a rock & a hard place, out of pocket & time ?
If it gets really bad, put the email on a thread & we can all send them some complaints ?

We're talking around 10 years ago when I had my LCR (still on the hunt for another) but I took it there for a remap (clutch was slipping). They couldn't do it soon enough so my mate fitted my new clutch. To be fair to them I went back and they re did the map without any extra cost and got it running spot on. Due to this, I then followed it up by taking it there for a service (wanted the VAG specailist SH) not too long after. However, on completion of the service they gave me two full pieces of A4 paper with a list of things that needed doing 'pretty swiftly', and stated some of it would've been MOT failures on the next one. I questioned this to myself because I thought my car was in pretty good knick (although I was just a young average petrol head, and maybe they picked up on this) So I took it to the friend who had done clutch (he was just starting his own business in his workshop) and he reassured me that it would fly through the next MOT. Although a couple of bits on the list potentionally would've been advisories, the vast majority was never in danger of having to be repaired. He said they were just probably drumming up some business for themselves. I never went back after that.

Looking to buy another mk1 LCR as soon as I find one that ticks all the boxes. I'll be taking it to Retro Resus for a chat and possible future work. Situated just outside of Taunton. Although I know nothing about the place or know anyone having an experience with them, I regularly drive past and like the look of their set up.
