Anyone else put their stereo here?

Don't want to hack my dash to pieces to fit the head unit in so i thought why not just use my face off front piece and sit it somewhere suitable. Luckily i have an old sony unit so i'm gonna nick the face off connectors from each end and just solder a bit of wire between the 2 so i'll still have a fully working unit... just with big space between them. Then maybe just velco it in the place in the pic and still have it removeble
My stereo is all remote controlled anyway so all i need is a display i can actually see.

Might of been done before but i thought it was a good idea

Dam not an original idea then....somehow i'm not suprised.

Have you mounted the whole unit there or just the facia? i didn't want to lose that handy cubby hole as its ideal for phone and stuff so was just going to put my face off part there

i seen a ibiza cupra on e bay and the kid cut a hole in the passenger air bag and put it in there .
