So after 4 brilliant months with the FR, this week it wasn't feeling quite right.

Lack of low end power pulling away etc, and engine rattle drowning out the exhaust.

Thought I'd wait till the weekend & then go visit the dealer tomorrow if it didn't get better. It didn't!

Engine light comes on at the front of a very long traffic light queue on my morning commute (typical) and no power whatsoever to pull away.

VW roadside chap did a diagnostic & escorted me to the local dealer fair enough, they think its the water pump / magnetic clutch for the supercharger thats gone. Fortunately all covered under warranty, but seems poor at only 48k?

Anyone else had this or know if theres anything that can be done to prevent this issue in the future? And any other parts they should be replacing at the same time?

Also anything I should look out for when I get the car back middle of next week?

Cheers all!

I had this on mine, it should be throwing a code like p10ac or something like that for supercharger magnetic clutch not engaging.
Mine went at the 82k km mark.
Apparently vw changed the materials, but don't know quote me on that
Cost 800€ to have it done, been fine since.
If done at the dealership it will come with 2 years warranty so you're covered if anything goes wrong after.

Mine went completely at 51K, replaced the clutch/gearing and the water pump. Apparently it's ver common, listed on the cupra ultimate guide. It's not a surprise having a problem this early with the 1.4tsi and is unlikely to be the last unfortunately All in all I paid £440 but had a new fuel pump fitted for good measures. That was with an independent garage though!
