looks like my water pump has gone. cambelt done 7k ago but pump NOT changed..... belt was done before i got the car. its an AGN engine.

If you're mechanically happy with doing it, then yes - nothing too complicated (just problematic if you get it wrong)

Correct me if i'm wrong but if it was the water pump i don't think this would explain your extreme water loss unless your head gasket went with the car overheating and also your temp gauge would rise especially if you engine was hot enough to boil the oil. I think your best bet is to put it into a garage and get it diagnosed by a professional. You could end up splashing out 250-350 to get the pump done then to find out the pump was fine.
thats what i dont understand the temp gauge was at 90 and has never gone past 90 even when the water was at boiling point....
You should get it into a garage, you don't want to cause anymore damage than whats already done. Worst case scenario would be water pump causing overheating, faulty temp sensor causing inacurate temp reading and f*cked head gasket and warped head causing water loss.
It's a bloody nightmare when you get problems like these.

well at the mo im thinking that if it is water pump and head then i would be looking at over £1000 i think....... so what i could do is take out a warranty then after 90 days i can claim on the wear and tear side of things. so if i can leave the car for 3 months then all it could cost me is £50 excess and just 20% of the parts. but 3 months without my own car will be hard.
But if it's not the pump and it's something else not covered by the warranty you would get a diagnosing charge, cost of warranty and still have to pay for full repair. Plus going without your car for 3 months for nothing. I suppose tho you could save money by obviously not buying petrol and you could also cancel your insurance and then re-insure when your back on the road.
I'm not meaning to sound negative, just want you to be carefull as some warrantys only cover mechanical parts that have failed. Temp sensor and head gasket wouldn't be covered unless failure was caused by a mechanical part i.e water pump.
