Ah right, ok, point taken. I didn't realise they just put the software on and that was it.

Sorry to create a new thread on this.

CR FR TDI 2010 model.

There is just so much to read on all this stuff!

Thanks guys!

Have a short drive over to Sheffield and go see Steve @ Statller (01142 730366 ask for Steve Jnr).

You can get Revo done there.

Hmmmm on way to Sheffield already! To DVLA. What do they charge?

How can I find out if the car has a map on already? It seems quick! Maybe because I'm used to a 115 golf!

No idea mate - think it's a flat fee isn't it?

Bang 298 Attercliffe Road, Sheffield, S4 7WZ in your Sat Nav and swing by. Very friendly down there and are always happy to help out.

Let us know how you get on :)

Lol it should be but I know what you mean about such a different feeling I was 20 when I bought the PD FR, went from a 100bhp megane and fook me I hadn't even test drove before I picked it up lol just bought it fir its looks. Went all the way down sheff parkway with a grin from ear to ear couldn't physically believe what the dealer had given me lol he even said 'you have driven one of these before haven't you sir' I said nah but how different can it be! I miss that feeling enjoy it while it lasts. :D

Well, I called in to see these guys, and they are great help!

I opted for the revo map, and let Steve crack on with it, he did say that because it was a CR FR 2010 that it may crash when loading the map on.... And... It did! Gutted!

Apparently he needs to get into the ECU to map it, I'm a bit nervous about having this done. Anyone done similar?

My ecu had to come out when mine got mapped, I don't no if seat can tell if its out but you can always ask how this would effect your warranty. The new ecu's are locked and have to come out but I sold my old bluefin to my mate who had an 11 plate golf gti and it crashed first time but then we tried it again and it worked

Glad you went down mate, but gutted about the map!

If Steve is confident about accessing the ECU directly I'd say go for it. I have a 2008 car so didn't have any issues thankfully. Be confident those guys won't leave you up the creek without a paddle though :) . I'm sure it'll go on fine. I think it's fairly common practice now.

Yeah, steve was great help mate, they really do know what they are doing!

The revo box's that you can get to alter the map only turns it on and off with my model of car, so not sure its worth £150 just to turn the map on and off.

He did say that if seat re flash the ECU then he'll have to go through all the same process to re map it!

If this is the norm, i think i'll go for it and let him do it...

He basically has to get into the ECU and do something to it.
