are cupras lower than standard ibizas?

Just wanting to know if cupras are have lowered suspension as standard compared to standard ibiza.

Reason being i'm looking at suspension kits and wanting to know if when they say lowers by 40 mm whether it would be 40mm on a cupra or say 20mm if as standard its 20mm lower than a base spec ibiza.

when companies state a figure, they mean it will be approx 'x'mm lower than the car was with its standard suspension

the suspension set up on a cupra is different to the lesser models, so the ride height does differ but when fitting aftermarket set ups, providing its designed for that model (engine weight), the ride height should lower to their claims over the standard set up

Yes understand that part acid just wanting to know if the cupra is lower than base spec ibizas as standard.

As looking at the KW suspension kit (not coilies) it says 40mm but doesn't state which engines or models, so assume for all models 00-02. But would this still be circa 40mm on the cupra or more like 20-25mm

Just my old Astra mk4 sxi was 20mm lower than base spec astras due to being a "sporty" model. So was curious whether the cupra was factory lowered compared to base spec ibizas.

i see what your saying but it has to be model dependent

since if you fit a kit to a 1.8T the car will be lower than the same kit fitted to a 1.0l because of the weight difference.

in answer to your question, yes the Cupra's ride height is lower than say a 1.6 but there is no specific figure since its not a big deal.

the likelyhood is they supply different coils per application so its 40mm drop either way

With 17's at moment if I brake hard the front dives quite alot and is rubbing the front tyres about an inch in from outer edge. When a bounce test is done the front seems pretty stiff and doesn't bounce. Which is making me think that the Springs maybe weak and compressing too much under continuous load, so looking at some new and lower firmer suspension. Rears also catch occasionally on big dips in road.

Just don't want to go too low and be forced to remove my 20mm rear spacers (although may have to). Also do the lowering kits reduce dive compared to standard setup.

yes a stiffer spring and shock will aid this but it seems a characteristic of the Ibiza is the front end diving and under steering especially when you brake hard

my car still does it on coilovers but nowhere as severe as it did when standard. alot less bouncy to

Think the thing that catchs you out is the bumpers..

Can't comment on the lesser models, but the Cupra's is quite low and long from the off..

I can't get my car up the ramps I have, and I haven't even lowered it yet!!

With regards to suspension companies quoting heights for coilover kits. Ignore it!

In Germany they state the maximum drop that gains TUV approvial. With my old polo it said on the box 70mm, but you can physically wind the coils down to double that
