Ok this is wierd

turning my headlight switch fully clockwise, my lights are on, both my headlights AND my lower front spots/fogs. Pulling the switch out turns my rear fogs on, but makes no difference at the front, both spots/frogs AND main lights stay on...

That can't be right can it ?

:help:

its the nob "flush wiv the dash when all the fronts are on? if so, pusht the nob IN so that its set in from the dash, then its just your main lights then (not your spots aswell)

I think that's right. If you turn it one notch less than all the way, can you pull it out and just have your main fronts and rear fog on without the front fogs?

edit: what he said :)

If I turn the switch to one less than all all the way this is the sidelights position, so no main beams ?

So I can't have my front beams on without my spots/fogs on ? Surely thats not right is it ?

bugger :censored:

Anyone have any ideas what this could be caused by - faulty switch ? dodgy wiring ?

cheers

Thats not right at all, although so many people seem to drive around with their front fog lamps switched on these days or rears on in the rain which is just plain dangerous to any following cars [:@] I don't suppose the plod will even notice, i've even seen plod cars with the rear fogs on in the rain, and they should know better, shouldn't they

If you havn't had the car long i'd check to see if the last owner hasn't connected them up like that for some odd reason, so that when you have the dipped beam on the fogs come on as well...

If you've had the car a while and it's just started to happen it's probably a faulty switch, an auto electrician should be able to sort it a bit cheaper than your nearest seat dealer...

yeah Its probably safe, but I reckon I'm staring a MOT failure in the face though :(

The beams dip as normal, so I'm not dazzling oncoming traffic, but the front fogs are definately on with the headlight switch pushed fully in

The good thing is the car is still under warranty from the dealer I bought it from , I've only had it a month . Best give them a call eh !

you should have to pull your dial OUT twice to get the rear fogs on, once will bring your front fogs on

MOT fail item if they are on together all the time

switch bust?

YEAAAAAAAHHHHH !!! FIXED !!! :D

Well I popped into SMC SEAT Windsor and felt a little feint after being quoted £73 for a new Headlight switcher unit. So today I levered the old one out of the dash and found the connection block at the rear a little loose and the main housing had prised apart a little. I pushed and clicked everything back onto place and now...

NO MORE FOGS !! well not at least with the button pushed fully in now anyway

Thanks for your help chaps :)

Did the dealer have a look first or just quote you straight away?

If they looked then quoted you £73, I'd write to Seat UK to complain.

Nah I just asked for the part number and price from the parts desk - I was there to pick up some replacement windscreen trim clips at the time. :)
