No

They don't even have support for an Alpine cd changer as they are cde units. cdm's have mini-bus changers and cda units have AI-net. cde are budget and have no support for external sources.

There is aparently one make ( I think Blaupunkt ) that you can get an adapter for now, but its more expensive than buying a new changer

Otherwise as said no aftermarket HU's will work the standard changer.

ar$e!

ok no worries, thanks for the info guys, you have just saved me some money.....well not really as i will spend it on something else for the car now he he

cheerys anyways

i use the standard changer with my blaupunkt sat nav

blaupunkt sat nav?

so from what the guys were saying, the CD changer will not work with any aftermarket HU.....im confused now

i swapped my standard aura head unit (tape version) for my blaupunkt sat nav

i use it with the standard 6 disc changer located in the glove box.

i posted in the ICE section that there was an adapter available, but no one seemed interested

ah so can you get an adaptor for the standard CD changer to work with any aftermarket head unit then?

I don't see how that would work, cos even VAG headunits have different interfaces/signals

Panasonic changers are a direct fit for the standard changer if you went for a Panasonic headunit and changer combo ..... they've not done anything particularly spectacular on the headunit front for a while now though (unless you go for a screen)

No you can get an adapter to Blaupunkt, but nobody else has bothered making one. I doubt anyone else will either, the reason being Blaupunkt had very little R&D to do to make an adapter, as they already make some VAG HU's they'd know how the changer works. Other companies would have to reverse engineer the changer protocol, make it reliable, and then sell very few of them.

Don't Halfords even do an adaptor that will plug in the Panasonic changer to a non-Seat/Grundig HU?!

Can you use a Panasonic HU?

I take it if that is not the case I would have to replace both changer and HU with aftermarket ones?

I see.

Bit more cost than I was anticipating! Found some decent offers on eBay and car audio sites for 2006 models of HUs that could be bargains (can't remember specific units)

On a slight tangent, does anyone want my spare Seat Aura HU?!

Do I need a fascia to go around the head unit in the centre console? I assume the Aura is not a standard size?

Anyone know where I can get one of these from if needed?

Sorry for reviviving an old thread...

kez, how much was the adapter to fit your cd changer onto the blaupunkt HU? Where did yu get it from.

Just trying to find out cos I'm gonna get a blaupunkt casablanca headunit and would like to keep the changer.
