Started this morning, very rough idle, and keeps cutting out.

Its idling at about 500rpm when usually it would about 900rpm.

Cant feel no loss of power (not that there was any to start with:p) so no idea whats wrong.. also no engine warning light:confused:

Will plug in vag com when i get home from work, but has anyone got any ideas what it could be?

Just been out on my lunch break, unplugged MAF sensor and its even worse. Engine won't stay on at all unless i rev the engine :( any ideas? anyone?

Sounds like it could be a coilpack problem.

Re-connect the MAF and then unplug coilpacks one at a time - if unplugging one makes no difference then that'll be your duff one

I haven't any photos sorry, I'm sure someone else will be able to oblige though.

Basically you need to remove teh engine cover and the coilpacks are plugged in on top of the spark plugs - these engines don't have distributor and HT leads like older cars. Unplug these one at a time - if the coilpacks good the engine will badly misfire and maybe stall. If it makes no difference then the coilpack is dead.

Hope that helps

Ok il see if i can see anything tonight. But basically it will turn over but not start unless i put my foot down, and as soon as i lift my foot off the accelerator it will stall

You may need a helper then! :)

It does sound indicative of coilpack failure to me - the fact that it got worse without the MAF shows that the MAF's ok

No - they're also covered by a 5 year warranty - a fact a lot of dealers like to keep quiet, so if your cars younger than 5 years old, get it down to SEAT
