Had car end of May 26. It was pre reg but we got it with 18 miles on clock. Now done 2200 miles. The service interval shown on the infotainment screen is 17700 miles, 482 days for inspection and 16400 miles 482 days for oil change. From the handbook I assume the car is set to "LongLife" service.

I was going to get the car serviced after 1 year or 10000 miles on the road ie May 27, because 20k miles and about 18 months sounds a bit long. I've now had an e-mail from the dealer saying that the car is due for a service!! (After 3 months and 2200 miles!).
Now a complication is that the car was first registered end of September 2025, but never taxed or driven on the road (18 miles on clock) before we bought it as pre reg sale. So maybe the dealer is going on that date (but even so that's only 11 months) and it sounds like they are trying it on a bit, I can't see the car actually needs a service after so short a period of use.

Before I go back to the dealer to query their e-mail, what is people's experience with the longlife service (it says in handbook that the car works out service interval from way its driven ). I haven't had a car with that type of system before.
Should I stick with this setting, or get car serviced annually (or 10K miles?)

Thanks!

There's an oil quality sensor in the sump pan. As the oil degrades over time/distance, the counter drops until it alerts you that a service is required.

Inform the dealer it isn't anywhere near due according to the in-car information and leave it until the car tells you otherwise 👍

Did you buy it from the same dealer who is now telling you that it needs servicing?

Perhaps they should have serviced it before selling it to you, or maybe would like to pay for it to be serviced now? :-k :-k

I bought my Ateca at six months / 4k miles old, then had it serviced by my local dealer at 10k miles; whereupon afterwards I found it had been serviced (oil service) prior to me buying it.

Same dealer, not long ago! (3 months!) Good point about checking if it had been serviced before we got it (but it only had 18 miles o clock then). And good point about them paying for it!

Other people's experience is proving very useful.

Thank you for that very useful info about the oil check sensor, I hadn't come across that in any SEAT on-line documentation or the handbook. That sounds the way to go, I'll stick with the longlife service option the car is set to (and tell dealer that).

Thanks again to both, first time I've had a car with this system.
