Decided a nice set of wheels were well overdue
Next mod will have to be a clutch to handle the 391ft-lb of torque also a suspension refresh

Had a few ups and downs over the last few weeks with the K1 not driving it much due to a misfire on cylinder
the code i was getting
P0304 misfire cylinder 4
Coil pack 1-4 swapped
spark plug 1-4 swapped
still the same , the miss would disappear over 2k and whilst driving it felt fine only on idle would i feel it , mostly when stone cold though it sounded like a cammed 106 gti
so after doing research on forums regarding the code i have , nearly all pointed towards or ended up being an injector at fault .
parts ordered were:
pcv lower hose
pcv gasket
pcv upper hose
New injector
vac pump seal
genuine inlet gakset
genuine throttle body seal
First up was removing the inlet manifold + high pressure fuel pump , this is not a bad job but very fiddly when it comes to removing the throttle body charge pipe (especially when you forget your trolley jack and can barley get underneath )

the "little bugger" (injector) , seeing as the coil pack / spark plug didn't change the misfire i was 90% certain this will be the cause of the fault

Looking at the inlets + inlet plates both were already coked in gunky carbon deposits even though i had them cleaned 9 months ago , just goes to show how quickly these engines can coke up !

So after an evening doing the job all went back on with nearly no hiccups bar be snapping a brittle lower pcv hose , the fuel was primed few times then she fired back to life running brilliant no misfires or codes happy days

Next up will be fitting the helix clutch kit and wellycooler setup before the cold dark nights close in

The wellycooler has definitely improved overall throttle response . Next i will be booking back into R-tech for a tweak now i have the cooler and uprated clutch fitted

Little update.
The intercooler is doing a great job at keeping the temps down making the car feel eager as ever no matter how warm it gets.
Rear tyre, especially the near side rear was rumbling like a knackered wheel bearing.
Turned out to be the rear shock absorbers being totally shot, so new
rear shocks
rear shock top mounts
cover+bump stops.
(drop links/arb bushes were sent back as not being needed)
[The surface rust will soo been sorted]
The car has 4 Yokohama advan sports fitted now, for the price I cant complain. But i will soon be getting Goodyear ef1 super sports

I agree on the sound I bought my stock Cupra last year on an 08 plate and had done 47k fitted a catback Miltek and love the sound. Car looks sweet.I dont think i will ever go down the forge route haha fair play if you do legojon .
flikr is shocking for bluring things out i wish i had photoshop still to blur things neatly .

going back to the thermostat id highly recommend taking the alternator out it makes it so much easier gives you loads more room to work with
that same weekend i replaced the cat back part of the exhaust for a miltek system non res

the miltek systems are really nice but do check if buying second hand for rust and seized adjuster nuts 3 out of 8 were stuck on mine preventing me to adjust the system fitment properly .the sound though just for a catback system was actually pretty loud

After realizing the passenger side rear caliper has finally given up the ghost and sticking after nearly 12 years of service, I decided to replace it.
**limited edition silver spec till I get it painted**
Custom front and rear braided brake lines made by APB motorsport
Now the car is at the power I am happy with..... for the moment
H&R coilovers fitted recently but no pictures unfortunately
Handling upgrades
Powerflex black series bushes for
Upper control arms
Lower spring mount arms
Trailing arms
Also good condition bottom arms + trailing arms ready for polybushing in future.
Whiteline rear ARB (makes a big difference on these cars)
After accumulating all of these bits and bobs over a few weeks they all went on in a weekend give or take.
Rear subframe dropped, it wasn't in the best condition nor the worst I have seen so for now it was cleaned up and fitted with a C/M dead set rear kit including new subframe bolts x4

3 out of the 4 eccentric bolts came out after a half hour of little fuss so I got very lucky.
The difference in weight of the standard anti roll bar is pretty crazy, almost feels the that of a broom handle were as the Whiteline is 5 times as heavy and thicker
One thing I also noticed was with the Oem trailing arms rubber bushes being a lot stronger density than the Febi ones I was going to use for the time being.
After realizing this the old oem ones went back on.

I'm going to aim at getting the underside completely cleaned and sealed in the next coming months now the days are getting longer and warmer.
A trip to AKS tuning for a fast road setup next week.

Then the K1 was dropped off for the full alignment at AKS tuning, the guys there are superb keeping in contacted with me throughout the day making sure I knew what was going on with the car.
Now the suspension is properly set up the difference is night and day, turn in speed is very confidence inspiring constantly pushing you to take the corner faster every time.
Highly recommend getting this done, suspension isn't the cheapest mods but bang for buck you cant go wrong.

Since having the wheel alignment done I took the K1 for its first track day!
Cadwell Park.
The track day was an absolute blast, with the K1 flying along on the straights and twisty's.
Moving on to the last few months I thought it was time to tackle a few preventative measures.
This included
-Painting the Sill front parts (where they meet the bottom of the wing) - This was done by a bodyshop

After the paint was sorted I decided to do the cambelt as this was coming up to being due soon.
The job isn't too hard on these engines, just the main engine bracket being the biggest pain in the a**e.
All genuine parts used including genuine G12 Evo coolant
All on and timed up, checked twice before putting it all back together.
Fresh Coolant
All done
After doing this I noticed the brake booster pipe had split (due to the hose clamp pinching) so I purchased a new hose and a genuine clamp.
Also a new dipstick, even though it was a revised part it had still shown signs of wear, even cracking where the old part used to. I must check my oil too often....
