How the chuff do you remove the ashtray?

I cant make it out if its part of the centre console bit but i need it out to access the wires for the cigarette lighter as im using that for the power cables for my boost gauge

Its just a case of pulling it up isn't it? Shouldn't be any more complicated than that, and if it turns out that it is then its a poor design lol

Well the actual tray itself comes out by pulling up but i want the whole thing out because i cant remove the cigarette lighter socket.

Its such a pain in the ass lol

Go around the side, peel back some carpet and trim and the cables are lurking up there.

I cant unclip them from the cigarette lighter tho as there is about 3mm space between the body of the car and the actuall wiring.

I'm wanting to do the same, my HUD needs the cig lghter power supply.

I ran the power for my boost gauge from the headunit loom. Might be easier if you are fitting it in the centre console.

The ashtray is spot welded onto the console, so you cant get access to the wires without taking the console out, quite easy tbh

where have people wired there gauges into then? what wires do i connect to from the headunit?
