Folks,

I would like to change the head unit and speakers on my Leon FR. I'm looking for something with DAB radio and ipod support. My car has factory fitted Bluetooth.

I don't really want to do it myself so can anyone recommend a decent installer in the Hampshire\Surrey area. Or should I just go to Halfords?

Any advice\tips much appreciated.

Cheers.

The new Double Din Pioneer headunits are DAB and come with everything but satnav built in.

I would recommend you fit the stereo yourself, just a few plugs need to be wired. Speaker wise all depends on how much your willing to spend.

Vibe Slick 6 speakers are cheap and sound alot better than standard, just remove old ones, buy sak 3103 adaptors and simple 30min job all round

I know someone quoted vibe slick 6 speakers but my slef I'd probley avoid them my slef unless u like bass.
Don't get me wrong vibe speakers are good qulity and built well but there more for bass than anything else my slef I have always found alpine type r series are best all round speakers by far but the alpine type e series are cheeper but still good quilty.

I have tested nearly every brand of speakers out there so far that's why I throught I'd post what I'd say would be best to fit speaker wise :)

Speaker discussions are always hard - everyone's ears are different and have different preferences. I personally find my vibe slick 6s excellent because I feel they're good all round. Plenty of bass, mids and the right amount of high end too (my ears are more sensitive as I'm still a teenager so I can pick up higher frequencies).

Best bet is to listen to them first, I went into local halfords as they have a reasonable selection oh display.

Yep your correct there everyone's ears are diffrent and it will all depend on what u want at the end of the day just one thing vibes where built for and always have been is bass high end sound is one thing they have never been good at due to there cones on the inner of the speaker is too hard to manage the highs.

Thanks for this info as I'm looking to replace my standard speakers.

Might give these Vibe Slick 6s a try, if they are better than standard then its an improvement to me.

Sorry to sound dumb, but where would I pick up the SAK 3103 adaptors? and is that all I would need to fit these?

Thanks in advance.

I have Alpine Type R's in the rear doors which are bass heavy but are great quality, used to be in the front but moved them for my vibe speakers.

They are on ebay for a pair, around £10

PS, I notice your in the West Mids, where abouts?

So which ones would you recommend? I do like my bass (nothing too extreme though).

I'm no good with fitting stuff like this, so I was even wondering whether to have a look around Halfords and if I found any to see if they would fit them.

I'm not too far from you, I'm in Oldbury but always in and around Halesowen.

Try some out in Halfords, I say look online for prices as they are always cheaper online.

Vibe6 speakers are cheap I think I paid around £20-25 for a pair. Alpine Type R's are around £100 I think and are harder to get as I could not find any at a decent price. I dont mind giving you a hand to fit them, if you supply the parts.

Or you can get component speakers which require you to fit tweeters somewhere and disable the existing ones. All depends on budget mate

I'll have a look in Halfords on Saturday and see what they have. I might also check out the Car Audio Centre off the Pershore Road.

If I have no luck and end up buying the speakers seperately to fit I'll give you a shout if that's OK mate
