Hi there I've got a serious problem with the car overheating I can't go for anymore than a mile without the temp going off the scale (120 & flashing light)unless the car has sat overnight and is stone cold. Only once I get to 110°C I can hear the large fan kicking in. The timing belt and water pump has been changed about 2 years ago so I'm ruling out the water pump and if I give it some revs the engine cools slightly but its a vicious circle doing that. The 2 fans do not run at all untill the engine peaks at 110°c?
I was wondering if this could be a temp sensor prob or a loose wire as the car blew a breather hose in front of the rad and possibly the mechanic had damaged or loosened a wire for the sensor on the fan. It has been happening since then. Also just changed the large fan as the bearings where going and was really noisy. The fans don't even run with the air con on.
Where is the temp sensor for the fans located. Or could it be a realay? Should the fan(s) run all the time or is the engine cooled with the water pump only this car is turning into a money pit. Just replaced the turbo/dump valve/n249 bypass/fpr/fuel filter/ loads of suspension work etc every month its a new prob I'm pulling my hair out now and I've not got much left.
Please help the car is impossible to drive ATM.
