the problem with this is you can't control the ipod from the HU or charge it, you would be better off with a HU with full ipod control.

Is there a lead available that does that?

I have a CD head unit and 6 disc changer in my 2005 LCR, I would like to remove the 6 disc changer and fit a ipod lead in the glove box like I had in my Mk5 Golf, it charged the ipod and controlled through the stereo.

Check out the headunit I've just got it's brilliant! Already has a lead built in, charges my ipod nano, seamless skipping through songs on the display, and also shows all the info about the song too. It's perfect. Plus it's red so matches the interior nicely ;)

Have a look at my thread above and on that page scroll to near the bottom and you'll see the headunit. :)

Cheers Gordz, I have a Kenwood KDC-W313A that I bought for my Caddy so may use it.

I just thought there would be a way to use the ipod throught the original stereo?

Well there is, but it's pants. Not really worth it.

Plus with an aftermarket headunit the sound you get from the speakers is unbelieavble compared to standard headunit!

you need to replace the HU realy, i have an alpine HU too, it plays the ipod briliantly and looks good with the red ilumination.
