Auto lights query

I'm reluctant to leave the lights in the Auto position, because as far as I can see, there is no in-car indication as to the status of the lights, ie whether they are off, sidelights on or headlights on.

When conditions are dull, wet or just starting to go dark, it's not always possible to tell when driving if any lights are on.

Am I missing something?

Hi, Ive got auto lights on my car and you can tell when they are on and when they are off by looking at your display(where rev counter is) or where you controls are. The lighting behind the dials will be considerably duller when your lights are off.

Cool, will have to look at that. I guess you are saying that there is no specific indication, just a matter of judging the brightness of the illumination of the dials? Thanks!

I have auto lights on mine to, but from what I have noticed they just seem to be on all the time...lol

If that's true, at least you never need worry if you've got 'em on when it starts getting a bit foggy or whatever

That's the only way i have found, also if you stop and open your door(if your dropping someone off and carrying on your journey) the lights seem to revert to daytime running lights sometimes. Don't know whether this is just on my car or on others.

Mine are definitely not on all the time. Mine is a 12 reg and I think DRLs came in after this. I've been taking a closer look at this issue and it seems that if the headlights are off, then the bulb behind the word AUTO on the light switch illuminates. When the headlights are on, the bulb on the switch goes out. Only problem, unless it's really dull, it's hard to see if the switch is illuminated or not...

Sorry i dont know why its doing that mine does it the other way round(light illuminates when lights on/goes off when DRL's one). I had my drl's fitted additional.
