hi all went to germany last weekend in my tdi fr 1687 miles round trip to visit friends indicated 140 on the speedo for over 1 hour. and was still getting took by german and italian exotics but loved it all the same the autobahns are only like our m/ways its just every one is going quick so you dont feel ilke you are speeding. will fly drive next time and have an extra day lol:p :bleh:

I "may" have had my TFSI FR up to a similar speed, all I can say is that it feels really stable and is really quiet.

140 for an hour = one empty tank for me!!

jeeesus christ, your exhaust gas temps must have been sky high at that speed. I remember doing 145 for 10 mins once and shortly after that my turbo went BANG, so id be very suprised if you hadnt done some damage. Also your intake temps must have been through the oof aswell, suprised it never went into gimp mode.

Where would you stand with the warranty and driving at 140mph?

I'm guessing they'd have to honour it (as long as you weren't doing anything stupid like switching off the engine and then bump starting it at speed) seeing as they have pan-european warranties and you were legally doing that speed within the EU?

There's not anywhere near that distance of derestricted Autobahn in one go.....

be sure, there is... i know it, cause i live in germany... ;) but they are getting less
and it should not be a problem for the car to go this speed for quite a long time. the manufacturers are doing some tests with the cars before you can buy them... ;)
and otherwise there would be a lot of broken cars parking on the left lane of the bab...
