Hello,

does any body know where the AUX input in the ST Toledo V5. It have a sat nav system with CD changer in Glove Compartment. cant find at all

Appreciated
.....

Its on the back of the sat nav system, if you remove the unit you will be able to see it. Its not simply a case of plugging a device in though, it has to be something that is recognised by the unit. Otherwise it doesn't enable the relevant menu option.

so how do u suppose to fit an ipod or mp3 player with it
any ideas

You can get a cable that links your i-pod into the CD changer port which will allow you to operate it from the headunit controls but it would mean you couldn't use the changer.

It's also bloody expensive!! I think the cheapest I found was about £100?

What I did was tap into the audio connections on the CD changer lead, and attach on a stereo headphone lead. Then I created a blank CD, IE an audio CD with 74 minutes of silence. Then I leave the CD player supplying the signals, and my MP3 player supplying the audio.

This is a semi permanent thing as you're cutting into the CD player loom, so you are still disabling the CD player. But it can be backed out without too much issue. And you get a slight pause every 74 minutes as the CD loops to the beginning, but thats not exactly a hardship!

sgtcortez, someone else told me about the aux in on the back of the CD player, it doesn't appear to be on all head units, and wasn't on mine. My CD player was perfectly featureless on the back, only the main lead coming out.

Clever solution! - I guess I'm glad mine came with the tape player, it's more simple that way and the changer still works as normal!

the satnav system i`ve got is the dynamic one
do you think its on the back of the player or near CD changer or somewhere

The CD changer is the easiest to check, three or four allen screws and the whole unit slides out. And by the sounds of it, they're either right there, or they're not.

If they're not on the CD changer, then you'll need to figure out some key option to remove the head unit and look there. But definitely check the changer first.

i`ve just found a small connector just underneath my player its a red colour connector looks like some sort of input
any idea what that could be
really appreciate for your help guys

That's your diagnostic port where dealers (or anyone with VAGCOM) plug in to read the ecu etc.

It does look about right. The yellow/green/blue connector and the blue/black connector seem like the ones that are there already for the speakers and the CD player. If you want to check your unit before you buy it, take the unit out and you'll see the connector diagrams. You should see that one of the connectors in the kit takes the place of the CD changer.

The only thing I'd be wary of is that it deals with MP3's directly, which might limit your choice as to what you can play. For example, the card input on my girlfriends car cannot cope with variable bit rate MP3's or protected MP3's. Then again, I can see the kit includes a 3.5mm input, so you might already be able to get round that.

does that mean my CD changer will be disconnected and i wont be able to use that
all my CDs will be unusable then
will i not be able to plug that and use Changer as well

Most of the devices I've seen take the place of the CD changer, despite there being an 'aux' setting on the head unit. It may be that this device is an 'aux' device rather than a 'CD' device, but from what I remember you will be replacing one with the other, sorry. Please double check by pulling the head unit, you should see the connectors are colour coded and be able to work out what you will be connecting to.

Did you have something other than music planned for the aux connection then? My reason for losing the CD player was that I'd have the music on MP3 anyway!

I take it there is no aux in on an aura cd head unit?

Nothing on the Aura unit. However, I took the unit out slipped in one of those cassette to 3.5mm jack thingies and threaded the cable out the back of the radio and through the dash to the little compartment under the light switches. I can plug my MP3 player, MiniDisc Player etc into it. I don't have any cassettes anymore, so it seemed an idea and inexpensive way to keep the CD changer and add an Aux unit. Obviously you have to press play, stop etc on the remote unit, but hey, keeps the car looking standard (My preference) and gives you an extra audio source.

Hey

Had the same problem but fixed it for around a fiver and can now hook up my Ipod. I have the satnav system double Din unit. Go to ebay and buy a MFD AUX cable for 5.50 quid

(sorry not ablw to post a direct link the cable is called AUX Line IN adapter VW, Audi MFD.10pin-2xRca 0,15m)

This cable goes into the back on the head units TV input port and the blue cable hooks up to the 12V + connector. The TV menu will not activate untill it has a 12V + connected and the blue cable supplies this fooling the unit. Connect a standard aux mini jack cable into the cable bought off ebay, go to the tv menu and enjoy. Obviously no picture is displayed so the screen is black until in motion then a red warning appears.

Worked a charm for me and pulled the wire through the ashtray so i can hide it in there when not in use. You CD changer will still work perfectly

Hey as i can read some of you guys may have the AUX option instead of TV/Video on the menu. Should still work though as it worked for a friend i also installed it on.

Ah, very useful, thanks. I might reverse my chop-job and get this instead! The blue flylead looks like an unterminated wire, how did you hook it up to the 12v feed?

You mention that it could be used as an aux option, but I seem to remember the aux connector is one of the square ones? Or do you mean that you still connect it as a TV in, but switch the HU to aux to stop the display dissappearing?

This job took me a while in the pooring rain having to search the net high and low without any help and in and out of the rain. I had already given up in the dark as there was nothing to be found about this lead and had everything ready to ship it back.

Finally just tried cutting the end off the blue wire and sticking it loosely in the 12v + pin that goes into the back of the unit. This was the 12V+ that usually feeds the unit to power it. I have not cut any wires i just un-isolated quite a bit of the blue wire, doubled up to make it fatter, wedging it in next to the 12V+ that feeds the unit under (or maybe above) the speaker wires. Stuck a bit of tape round the blue and 12v wire to hold them and tidied up the wires by feeding the aux to mini jack under the ashtray lid.

I did this for a guy in Denmark a few months ago and am sure he had an AUX option instead of a TV/Video option in the menu but saying that i cannot be 100% sure i could aks him though.

When hooked up thorugh the TV option i loose all other display just get a black screen with a red "Vehicle in Motion" warning when above 15 mph.

Sorry i cant help more than this. But help you dont pull as much hair out as me :)
