 day to day i seem to get around 38-40mpg, i do have the climate on 247 tho and on Lo most of the time, its got 18 inch lambo reps too still running the standard recomended tyre pressure, i dunno if any of this will mess it up?

even if i try and keep my right foot under control

:help:

Typically 39-42 but if I'm especially gentle, up to 48, that's with a P-Torque remap and on 18's. On a run back from Aberystwyth towing the caravan at the weekend I managed 25mpg with the a/c on full. Wasn't hanging around thou', trying to give us caravanners a better image so was 'making reasonable progress' down the country lanes overtaking all the Sunday drivers !

Yep 45 is about the norm on a 10 mile mixed trip! can be as low as 40 if i've hammered it,or 50 if i really behave! seen 60 once :D

Well my 2.0TDi Stylance XL manages an average of about 40-42mpg.
That is commuting traffic with occasional longer journeys.

On Sunday I had a 40 mile return motorway trip, sat at cruise controlled 56mph the whole way and was only able to push it up to 48mpg.

The economy has been the only major disappointment I have had with the car.

Wonder whats up with my motor then? I have a rolling road set up fast road map. But standard map is no better. I've tried both several times.
I do have 18" with 245/40 profile but don't think this can effect mpg that much. Would a coke up VNT turbo reduce mpg? My egr has been cleaned twice over past 2 years (did it last week - see seperate thread)
Fairly sure turbo pipes are sealed, as much as the poor VAG design can be.....

18" wheels could lose you as much as 10mpg I reckon.

I'm on 18" wheels, and get 49mpg - got 51.2 on way home today. so i guess mine should be 61mpg on 17" - lol

CrispDust check your shut-off flap motor, it maybe failing. This can starve the Engine of air and thus more fuel used.

My own flap started to fail and my mpg went down to about 30mpg. i noticed when turning the ignition key to the off position my engine would run maybe 0.5-1.0 sec longer and the engine soundend like it was rattling, before it actually stopped.

the other thing could be the intercooler is clogged up and thus air temp is higher than normal.

1. why do 182 wheels reduce consumption
2. If IFV is fubar, why would this increase mpg, if it stays open all the time?

Phil what sort of speeds/driving are you doing to get that sort of mpg.
I'ver adjusted my trip computer so that it reads true.

check you haven't got a boost leak, i noticed an increase in fuel consumption when my inter-cooler pipe came loose

I get 40-45mpg doing normal short journeys and 55+ on a long run at 65-70mph

Hi CrispDust, majority of miles are travelling to work and back, Cas' to York, nice and steady 60 to 65mph, it's a 64 mile round trip with generally no hold ups, been doing it 13 year and each car i've had has exceeded the manufacturers combined mpg figure, which I put down to my 'easy' commute.

Is it difficult to adjust the trip computer?, must admit it bugs me mine reads high.
