What's everyone's car seat recommendations?

We're looking at the Recaro Young Profi Plus and Young Expert plus. These both fit the same isofix base, so its saves having to buy other bases for baby seat and car set. The Recaro get good reviews and look very comfy.

We were also looking at the Maxi Cosi cabrio, as we got offered it free with the pushchair we like. The Maxi cosi pearl child seat that fits the same base doesn't look very good compared with others though.

Would like to buy the baby seat and base, with the view to using the base for the child seat as it grows.

Not due till later in the year, so plenty of time to look around.

I know some seat's don't fit some cars as good as others....hence why its in the Mk2 section.

When I used to sell child seats, the Maxi Cosi was the one I'd always recommend. It fitted the best and gave the best support and protection. We did sell Recaro but they weren't as good. Things have probably moved on a bit by now, best bed is pop to A larger Halfrauds store and ask to fit a few. Some look great but fit terribly. Never had issues with fitting a Maxi Cosi, they were better than Brittax etc IMHO.

How old is the child? That's the most important question...

Have the Britax Duo plus in our cars, the isofix is built into the seat so no base required also easier when the outlaws take the kids as well. The seat is also the perfect size and shape for the back seat in the Leon which is why I bought it after trying several out in toysrus

Thanks Tron.

The babys not due till later in the year, so its a baby seat we will get first, with the view to the isofix base taking the next seat.

I've been reading about certain bases and seat not fitting some cars as good as others.

It has to fit my Leon and the wife's Qashqai.

Recaro Young Sport

Excellent Seats and covers groups 1,2+3 (So you'll need a group 0 first)
Excllent seat and price, especially as they cover such a large age range. Plus they come in many colour options and look great!

My son arrived two weeks ago and already swapped our first baby seat (Jane matrix) to the Recaro young profi plus and its vastly better and half the price.

We didn't go for the isofix base in the end although I can see the benefits of it. It's still really fast to put in/ out and feels more secure than the other seat we had.

Hi Donnyboy, the Maxi-Cosi pearl only fits the base of the pebble, the cabrio is the older model and has it's own base.

Currently using a pebble for my 8month old, have the pearl in a box waiting for her to grow.

Word of warning, I have a leather interior and the very back of the seat padding is being "destroyed" by the ISOFix anchor points :-(

We had a silver cross travel system from mothercare, very good system comes with the car seat which clips onto the pushchair pram, forward or reverse facing aswell. The pushchair is good till there about 3 aswell when they decide they'll walk everywhere lol

I'll look into the maxi cosi stuff more. I think the base we were told does the cabrio and bigger seat was the family fix base.

I'll also be getting some sort of seat protector for around the seat if I can.

The wife has seen a pushchair system that she likes, and it has adapters for most makes.

Just checked their website and it seems things have moved on, the Cabrio isn't compatible with the familyfix base, but it seems they have re-released the carbio as the cabriofix which can use the familyfix base.

hi Donny boy

when my daughter was born ,we had a baby seat that came as a set with the pram , since then she has been in the Recaro young sport which is a stage 1,2and 3 ,she has been in it for about 2 and a half years now and its realy durable the covers come off realy easy for our lass to wash .
Recently I drove 1200 miles in 6 days ,2of the days we were driving for about 7 hours each day with a couple of stops for toilet breaks , there was no crying screaming or complaining except our lasses usual complaining lol .
I would definatley recommend it to anyone.
