back break help

Trying to replace rear discs and pads, have taken old ones out got the new disc on but cant get the piston back far enought to get the pads in, something not right what am i doing wrong. Car in back yard in bits would apreciate a fast response if possible. Thanks.

that's why you can't wind the piston back.

Thought all was well with those back breaks but i was wrong, on one side there is a bad rattle and it appears to be that the caliper hasnt come back and the pads are rattling about, no problems with braking but somethings not right. Would appreciate any suggestions cos it sounds bad!!

the brakes work efficiently and stops rattling as soon as you touch the brake so piston is still working. unsure of where to go from here. possibly thought of removing again and pressing brake so piston comes out with no return action and then wind back again but to just enough to seat the new pads. sound like a good idea??
