Hi, just got hold of my VAG-COM cable and software to diagnose my cars rubbish idle, which seems jerky when the car is started for the 1st time untill it is warmish and the revs drop to normal.

I retrieved three fault codes from VAG-COM:

16486 P0102 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circ Low Input

16497 P0113 Intake Air Temp.Circ High Input

17916 P1508 Idle Sys.Learned Value Upper Limit Attained

I'm not sure if the first two problems related to the idle problem or independant. Anyway could anyone shed some light on how I correct the problem and hence the idle problem with my car.

Thanks,

Amandeep

P.S. VAG-COM also threw up an error code for intermittitent wheel speed sensor for rear right wheel, as the ABS light sometimes comes on... which i'm assuming means the sensor is a bit dodgy?

The car is suppose to rev a little high to begin with and then drop down to normal revs, but you do have some issues there and possibly need to change the MAF

Or possibly a throttle body clean dude? Lots of threads about doing this, i keep meaning to do mine, as it gets a bit erratic sometimes and cuts out when cold.

The jist of it is to use carburettor cleaner whilst the engine is running, and give it periodic squirts up the intake!

I don't think its the MAF, will try cleaning throttle body when I change the oil sometime this or next week. I'll log the MAF on VAG-COM anyway just to make sure... it is measuring block 003 on "engine" ?

Thanks,

Aman

It's not the MAF, seemed fine on Vag-Com. Turning on from cold and without touching the peddle the throttle stays mostly on "IDLE" with intermittent bursts of "ENRICH". It shouldnt need to enrich should it? So looks like i'm going to be taking my throttle body apart soon!

how did you check the maf on vagcom?

have you unplugged the maf? did idle stabilise?

tb can affect idle but its usually not picked up by vag com. as i understood it its more trying to pull away from idle when the revs go potty. usually dipping low?

i take it the cars well behaved at idle once warm? purely when starting from a stone cold engine?
