Hi all,

Had the cam belt and water pump changed on my Toledo TDI today, and when I collected it the garage pointed out that I had a slight coolant leak from the corner of my radiator..

Not good, I was wondering where the few spots of water were coming from that often appear on my drive. Only get a few, and the level hasn't dropped much, so it is a hardly a gusher !

Anyway, question, has anyone tried Bars Leaks in their coolant, is it any good for a TDI, or is it to be avoided ?

The guy in the garage joked with me not to stick a can of Rad Weld in it as it can cause problems, but is Bars Leaks any better, and will it mix with my nice new G12+ coolant that they added when they did the cam belt and water pump this morning ?

Price to replace the rad isn't to bad £170+vat all in fitted, but after just spending £250 on the cam belt and bits, I could do with waiting a while before I shell out anymore.

Anyone tried it, or know anything about it ?

Ta.

It does what it says on the bottle but if you ever need to do anything else on the cooling system you'll have a mothers own job getting rid of all the little slivers of wood out( real bugger if you need a head gasket change)
Holts do quiet a good sealant powder called Sealit i think (available from motor factors) and here are some other options
