Hi,

Had my car off for 6 days and just come to start it and the battery appears too low to start just get a clicking noise.

Vagcom error
18010 - Power Supply Terminal 30: Voltage too Low
P1602 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
Readiness: 0000 1000

How long should a battery last? 6 days doesnt seem right.

mines not been used for 6 weeks, and it still works, so i'd say your battery could be in need for a replacement

6 days seems short, however this may depend how often you used the car prior to this, how far you travelled etc (it may not have been fully charged prior to this).

or

do you have an aftermarket alarm? sound system etc? could be these.

have you checked that all lights turn off as they should? interior light not on all the time? boot light switching off?

however, if the battery is the original it could well be just that as i presume your car is a god few years old.

checked lights the last time it happened (was off for 7 days then).

The last time i took it out was for a 2hour drive too.

Think i'll get another battery and see how i get on with things, the battery doesnt look original but no way of knowing how old it is.

you can always try topping the levels up in the battery first.

boil the kettle, let it cool down and the fill the battery!

6 days and battery being empty then you need a new one. This is very normal for an older battery. As mentioned above, 5 years is the average life of a battery. So just get a new one. Should that be empty soon aswel then you have a leak somewhere (short circuit...)

try having a look at the levels in the battery first. Will save you some cash if that sorts the problem. But like the guys say you might have to get new one.

Still on my original battery which is 7 years old today

Smug mode off\

Now I've said that, I bet my battery dies in the next few days!

Well if it doesn't you know that you're leaking electricity somewhere...or that the battery isn't being recharged whilst driving...

if you look closely you can see it leaking sometimes, looks like a faint grey colour near a leak

i think the two amps in the boot are partly to blame, but i drive it everyday so i get away with it, & i just make sure if i park up anywhere the keys come straight out of the ignition!

one day not long from now i will end up stranded somewhere with a dead battery...really need to sort it out!
