Belt slipping noise on start up on TDi

Started the car up yesterday and there was a strange slipping noise, sounded like a belt slipping and was a high pitched noise. this then stopped after 10 secs and then started again for about another 10 secs. This was when started from cold and i had just washed it.

However did not do it this morning when i started it. Any ideas as i am in the dealers tomorrow so something else they can look at. cheers

Mine went through a phase of the belt squeaking a few months ago, mostly in damp weather. It wasn't actually slipping, just a bit squeaky - and it went away after a while.

which belt is it ,the main belt??

On mine it was the one that drives the alternator (and IIRC the aircon pump too)

if damp mine has done this too - first time it did it i thought car had no oil in it !
