Ill have to have a think about weather to replace them or delete them then. I'm not very clued up on all this sorry. Considering the n249 bypass tho. I'm so confused and unsure what to do :( lol

Most of the folk who claim some benefit from this will be seeing the "placebo effect". The rest I would wager are as csd_19 says - maybe had some vac/boost leak in the N249 pipework and changing the hoses fixed it.

Like I said - I did it, car felt absolutely no different at all. Dump valve sounded louder so I put it back. It is there for a reason - the ECU needs to be able to dump boost under certain conditions, if it can't do that then there's a risk of extra stress on the turbo.

Even Bill doesn't recommend doing this unless the valve isn't working right.

In other words, it's to safeguard against expensive turbo/engine detonation.

Erm, 'I'm oot'

Mine's been bypassed for nearly 3 years and no ill effects. And I push the thing hard regularly :)

so like I said...... If its working - leave it. If its fooked, then take it out.
Personal preference to if its done or not I guess. Everything and everyone will have their 2 pence worth, so do what you feel is right.
I personally think mines running better now I've done it ( may have had a split pipe ) , may be in my head ( I don't know ) . Haven't heard of a damaged engine as of yet by doing it, but at some point it may be possible.

to be honest each to there own its clutter that's not needed in weight alone you loose around 2-3kg , I've done it on all my 1.8ts and had no adverse effects , fact is there not needed fact how is my car running so sweet without it , it takes me less than 2 hours to remove the thing completely without take the bumper off , most of the running issues I've seen on these 1.8t are cause by corroded pipes under intake manifold if you gonna replace them might as well bin the shite you don't need , think a lot guys over think the basics of these cars and whats actually needed to make it run properly

I've investigated my pcv pipes and found the one under the manifold has a split in. All the other pipes around it are oily which shows they might be leaking slightly as well? My car is standard ATM just don't know weather to replace the pipes genuine as required or rip the whole thing out. Do you have to have a catch can to do that? I am so confused about the whole pcv delete and even the threads with pictures are confusing me and wouldn't be confident trying it. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

I've seen a catch can on eBay new for £30 and nobody has had problems with them. So then just need 19mm silicone hose and some straight and 90 degree joiners... Correct? The only thing is I can't really see what to do just from the pics. Anyone in Norfolk willing to give me a hand? Lol

There is cans on eBay ( not got the link to hand ) for £30 with pipe. They come with a 10 mm out let and a 15mm one that's changeable with the 10mm.
Sleeving it should be fine. Chap who's fitting mine has done it many times before and all have been 100% fine.

Will the engine management light be on when the PCV is removed? Thats another thing I'm worried about as mine is on at the moment because of the split pipe
