Mine will if it's pushed too hard/not set up right for a corner, managed to get a bit of lift-off oversteer last night on a roundabout :) (my mates got one of those shitty microcar things, so i wondered if i could do a lap of the roundabout quicker than he could go straight across it..)

Love it. Lets post up the common issues there are with the the vag engines that i see on a weekly basis on the 3 forums i use.

1.4TSI-massive misfire issues, engine failures galore, injectors failing, spark plugs failing, piston rings corroding...

2.0TFSI- Splitting diverter valves, cam shaft followers, coilpacks, fuel pumps, fuel presure sensors, valve springs.....

2.0TDI - blown turbos galore, dpf issues galore

Etc etc

VAG are no where near the top of the reliability surveys. Last one i saw they were beaten by the likes of vauxhall anand ford. Far to much badge snobbery on VAG forums IMO. Some huys misconstrue high quality interiors, high initial costs and good residuals for good reliability.

Such is the unreliability oof this nnew 1.4TSI im spending most of my time just waiting for ssomething to fail

Yours is runnng coilovers, stripped interior and semi slicks so lets be fair, its not comparable to a std cupra let alone a 1.6tdi.[/QUOTE

is a mazda mx5 better, with all the issue with the vw group cars thinking of trading my vrs for one

VAG are experimenting a bit with engines so it's not that surprising they're having issues. I'd still rather have a TSI or CR than a naturally aspirated wheezebox. But then I'd rather have a 1.9 TDI PD 130 over any of them. And an MX-5 will run like a Swiss watch, because there's nothing complicated about any of the engine options.

So far I've seen no posts in here about Ibiza 2.0 TDI engine turbos going pop! Granted, DPF issues do seem to particularly afflict the 1.6TDI engines, but from what I can see on this forum the 2.0TDI units seem fine. The TSI engines do appear to have issues and it's amazing that the press don't seem to have picked up on it. They still harp on about VW group reliability.

As far as handling goes, there are possibly better handling cars out there, but my FR puts a smile on my face and that's good enough for me! Not really taken the FR to the limit yet (but getting there) but so far I'd say that it doesn't grip quite as well as my Golf 2.0 GT Sport TDI and the understeer isn't quite as easy to control as the Golf. However whilst the Ibiza might not ultimately get through the corners as quickly as the Golf it is definitely more fun and would easily beat the bigger car in a straight line.

Compared to the old diesel Mk4 Ibiza FR, the current FR is definitely a step up in refinement and is a bit better in bend-swinging (though not too much in it).
