If i fit uprated brake pad and discs to my car. Should i get cheaper insurance. Or will they find some way of putting it up. Even thow its a saftey mod.

has this happened to anybody ?

I doubt it'll be cheaper as it's not standard - as the manufacturer intended and from the insurance companies point of view it could alter the way the car performs / handles.

Also they'd be more expensive to replace if they were damaged in an accident.

They'll also take the view you'll most likely drive faster as you've got more stopping power, same with suspension and corners :drive2:

If when I spoke to Elephant is any indication it'll go up even if you try to stress it's a safety mod.

about £15 extra for 4-pots on mine,

like roll cages, yes they are safer, but some cocks will push the limit a bit more,

Also roll cages add huge amounts compared to brakes, due to the amount of deaths they actually cause from people not using harnesses with them, which are a must when using a roll cage

Plus it might make your car more desirable to a thief.

Sorry but your likely to have to pay extra not save money.

Any changes to the STANDARD manufacturer spec will effect you're insurance, even options specified at build time or as dealer fit will bump your premium.

You could buy a Cossie and paint a big c*ck down each side, which would make it very unlikely anyone would ever steal it, but your insurance will still go up...
