Big Problem?

Well after all my complaining about that other irretating noice, Iv got another one a really scarey clunking noice. It sounds like its coming from the engine bay and I can hear it when I take my foot off the accelerator, sounds almost like a flat tyre or bad road surface. Its very worrying, Im thinking the following heatsheild or intercooler rattle? But Im not the most technical person so anyone else got any ideas?

Might be intercooler pipe that rashcupra was on about.

Do you have a strut brace?

guess what, I had some tyres fitted last week and the wheel nuts were not put on properly. Got it 2 a gargae and it was just about hanging on, wouldnt have made it home!

put it this way mate it was held on by 1 bolt when a limped into the garage thinking me whole suspension was nackerd. Could see by this point the wheel was funny, thought the suspension was nackerd lol.

complain to the garage your getting trading standards involed

Absolutley no way a car should leave a garage with loose wheel nuts

yer will do tomorow, the blokes on his own. But has been doing it for years!

did you go back to the place that fitted the tyres after 200 miles to get the nuts checked with a torque wrench ? it is normal practice to do this

if you didn't they won't help you

Bloody hell that's BAD.

Another few hundred yards and you wheel would have come off, who knows what accident you'd have been in, a head on maybe or careered off and flattened a pedestrian

I'd be suggesting they offer you a discount on the tyres or you suggest a visit to trading standards is in order

have you got spigot rings on your alloys?
you may have two on one side and none the other.
happened to me a few years ago.

the reason i asked about spigot rings is because if you do have two on one side then the nuts will keep working loose even if you have done them up tight.

god knows mate, had them on my last one and they worked fine.
