Iam looking to get a bigger brake setup for my MK1 Leon FR TDI. Just wondered what other alternatives are out there other then the Brembo Cupra R calipers and discs ?

312mm Discs, 312mm Carriers and Ferodo DS2500 pads.

Well worth the upgrade, had it on my old TDI and its very different from stock setup.

I had:-

Brembo MAX 312mm discs £100
VAG 312mm Carriers £110
DS2500 Pads £100

There are cheaper pads and discs available, CRN do grooved 312mm Audi TT discs for cheaper, EBC pads are cheaper too.

Thanks for the info, sounds like what i was after and might add some goodrich braided brake hoses aswell.

Would i just use my existing calipers then, but with the the 312mm carriers and discs ?

So i can use my 288mm calipers with 312mm carriers. Have i read that right. Sorry if we're going backwards here with my question. Also could the mk4 r32 set up be used all round, as these are bigger still aren't they?

If you have a 2wd car then the 4wd rears wont fit, unless you make up or buy a 6mm spacer and grind some of the centre of the carrier off or buy a 2wd carrier. This is because the 4wd cars use independant rear suspension rather than the 2wd beam and the carriers are different. Rear 256mm brakes from an Octavia vRS, Leon Cupra R, V5 Toledo etc will bolt straight up.

256mm LCR set up..

what can i do with the rear discs. Mine must be solid 232mm ones. What can i change these to, using the original calipers ?

Sorry to ressurect an old thread but about to do the above upgrade path on the brakes on my '55 FR TDi, 288mm => 312mm as discs need replacing.
I understand that the carriers need replacing, is this because the calipers need to be spaced further from the wider discs?
Do the carriers use the same bolts that hold the old carriers in place or are new longer ones required?

I've searched quite a bit but havn't been able to find this out.

Thanks in advance
