Just been out for a good blast, it sounds amazing, burbling and popping from the exhaust. Intake side sounds very crisp, like on a freezing cold morning.

Performance is awesome, pulls very hard, and throttle response is instant. You know it's working well when the power takes you by surprise. Air flow was showing slightly less than before even though it feels alot better. Alex from aks has informed me, due to the runner delete, the internal area has increased so my current boost won't be filling up as much. So more boost should increase the air flow.
I'm very happy with the performance and sound.

Does make a great difference and you get some lovely noises as a result of the RFD. The cold start issue is so minimal i'm not even bothered about RFD software either.

When are you back at R-Tech for tweaking?

Just need to sort out the breather system, add some preload and I will book in with Niki.
Rdf and cleaning the intake has made a massive difference in performance. 100% worth doin.
I can't believe how bad the breather system is on these cars. Talk about a backwards step.

your valves look much cleaner now,all the crud stuck to the valves is that with the wmi running as well?
whats the idea behind the runner flap delete?
its a mod ive not really looked into yet.

The wmi should prevent it getting bad again. My car only ran wmi in the last couple of thousand miles. The carbon build up was far to bad for the wmi to effect it. I'm also modifying the breather setup to help prevent build up. The runner flap delete, will allow a smoother intake and actually increase the aera size.

make sure you post up the mod you do with the breather system as im keen to be rid of the breather system or from having it recycle all the crap.

Ok so following up what I has said about my airflow being a little lower than before rfd and intake valve cleaning Despite feeling alot stronger. Well I was wrong a quick throttle body reset and a power run, which by the way is pretty scary stuff now, feels sooooo strong. My airflow has been restored



Had to grip the wheel hard and grit my teeth!

I have also bought another (3rd time lucky) 42draft design catch can kit.
I will do what ever it takes to keep these inlets clean.

And to put the airflow into perspective, at the time of mapping, i was only pulling 260gs and still made 360bhp/400ftlb with no meth.

My unique mods have really helped with the flow. These are real gains.

Have you bought the 42dd can as well as the plate? Are you sure it's not the can that was causing the previous issue you had? I remember Alex saying he uses the 42DD plate but uses a Forge R32 catch can....

Would like to see how well the 42DD can is baffled internally. My Allard one is great, as the contents are forced down one side of the can through the baffles, and once at the bottom have to rise up the other side (more baffles) to head back to the cam cover. The amount of oil and water condensate it catches is unreal, needs emptying frequently during these winter months.

FYI 260gs and 360hp is a ratio of 0.72222... Apply the same logic to your 286gs and you could be knocking on the door of 400hp (well 396 to be precise......)

I pick up the full tfsi catch can kit includes the plate. I needed the plate anyway to do what I was going to try, but will give the can another go. I seriously believe the 42 draft can is over baffled, collects too well, fills up way to fast.
Once it reaches a certain level, the intake starts to draw from it. So it could be a case of it needs emptying more often than you think.

If it's collecting and filling quickly then it's doing its job well and simply needs emptying more often. Once it fills then yes the condensate will be drawn through the intake heavily under boost. I'm emptying mine every couple of weeks at the moment for peace of mind.

Mine does't look like that at all, inside of my can looks like the inside of a bar and plate intercooler core

Yes, collects too good, I was cleaning mine out every week, and so much water. Sounds strange but wish it didn't collect the water so well. It would reduce the risk of drawing gulps at a time lol.
Going to invest a quick drain for it.

I gave it a good clean inside and out and got it fitted this evening

What size outlets did you go for with your fmic?
I was just looking at your pic of your fmic set up trying to work out what pipe work you have used in terms of bends and straights etc any chance you could enlighten me on the what is needed for pipe work to fit your fmic set up? As from what I can gather it's probably one of the better set ups out there.

Ok so a few more goodies have arrived this week.
First is a used revo induction kit, my plan is to cut it up and add my Oem spec maf housing


Some say Im mad for wanting to do this, but I think it's worth doing.

Now I have been looking for a set of Oem wheels for the winte, so I bagged these.


I know I have missed the winter, but I'm prepared for the next. Also a bonus that the wheels are in black and pretty good condition. Also in the picture is a arch roller, just need to roll the front arches a touch to stop my tyres catching occasionally.
