black smoke under acceleration

My car has gradually started putting out lots of black smoke under acceleration. some people that were behind me a while ago said it was putting out puffs of black smoke every so often.

It is a 1.9TDI 130 Bhp ASV engine the engine has covered 105,000 miles

I serviced it a while ago and put in a Mann fuel filter from euro car parts, don't know if it started after this.

It has not lost any power and still pulls well during normal and hard acceleration, just the cloud of black smoke. No oil in the exhaust, does not sound as if the intercooler pipe has come off as the induction noise is no different.

The MPG now seems to be suffering.

Just inspect all the pipes from the turbo to the inlet. You're looking for excessive movement at the joints and/or seeping oil or misting at the joints.

You could also have the engine running at idle or with a friend revving and use a spray bottle with a washing up liquid / water and spray the joints. Any air bubbles that appear will identify a leak.

took inlet pipe off at the egr valve and it was gummed up with oily crud.
Looked inside egr and it was filthy.

Took the valve off and the inlet manifold and cleaned them all out, awaiting gaskets etc.
Do you think this would cause the problem

took a wee while to get it done.

Took off intercooler pipe at the maf/ egr valve and it was chocked up with grimy sooty oil, the egr valve was the same.
Took the valve off and cleaned it out, cleaned out all pipework cleaned out the inside of the intercooler, intake manifold removed soot cleaned out and re-fitted.
Can only assume when it was serviced they put in too much oil.
Put the car back together, the smoke is gone under any acceleration and I have my little go cart back, it's found it's oomph again and the fuel consumption is better.

Many thanks, where would we be with your help and advice.

I had lots of black smoke under hard acceleration but just unplugging the egr valve vacuum pipe which obviously stopped it opening has sorted it.

now you have cleaned it all out i would suggest getting rid of it.unplug the pipe or blank it off or map it out :).
