Did you the transponder chip for the old remote?
The only instructions I could give on how to do it would be with VCDS, I've never used a sequence of put the key in this lock, press and hold for x seconds etc.Hmm i haven't heard about this vag-com thing before or wasn't aware that i had to recode the standard one as well! I took it to a car key specialist to get the key cut and he tested it and confirmed the key was working and giving off a signal.
Do you have any step by step instructions on how to do it from scratch mate?
Maybe it depends on part numbers... mine ends in DA, I know there's some that end in AH, AG etc.My boot button wouldnt work on the 2nd hand 3 button fob i bought, its only now ive bought new key section that it works on the boot button

I don't have selective unlocking enabled either, so to be honest I don't think that's your problem. My key ends in DA, but the boot button on my key doesn't work. I read somewhere this may be because i don't have selective unlocking enabled.
But i don't have VCDS to enable it!!!
My new key is the same part number as yours. My new key ends DA - 1J0 959 753 DA - this works fine on boot release
I dont have anti hijack enabled - 2002 model came like that
Il dig out the old key number later
Ive always used the old method of 1 key in the ignition while locking the drivers door
Think its the old one in the ignition
New one lock drivers door then unlock using button

Thanks mate!Just had a look through your thread, car looks great man!
Was a joke lol! I'm sure he wouldn't mind though![]()
Hopefully! Trying to decide whether to refurb the wheels or detail it first...Well Chris??
summer detailing starting soon??
I am to be driving it over the summer![]()
course he wont. dont even pop in when you're taking it. it will be a far better surprise for his car to disappear on him one dayhaha

parents keep taking the mickey out of me when I look for new bits (mats etc), they say "can you get those in pink"... hinting at allowing my sister to learn to drive in it when I go away! I'll never want it back if that happens, the car just won't be the same.
